’53 Organic Meats
We are proud to introduce our very own line of delicious certified organic steaks, ground beef, and specialty meats. The unique moniker ’53 Organic Meats makes reference to the year 1953, a time when beef was raised the old-fashioned way—without growth hormones, antibiotics, or genetically modified organisms (GMOs).
Jeff Andreasen, founder of the ’53 Organic line and co-owner of Nebraska Famous Steaks, has leveraged his family-oriented beef industry relationships of almost 30 years to offer some of the finest organic meats available. Jeff’s dad, Charlie, always insisted on two things:
- Buy and sell the best-quality meats available.
- Provide excellent, consistent customer service every time.
We continue to live by Charlie's credo each and every day.
What does it mean to be organic? Organic agriculture optimizes the health and productivity of interdependent communities of soil life, plants, animals, and people. Foods certified as organic must comply with National Organic Program standards:
- The use of synthetic herbicides and pesticides is prohibited.
- Genetically modified organisms (GMOs) are prohibited.
- Irradiation of foods is prohibited.
- Livestock must be given access to pasture.
- Livestock must be given no growth hormones or antibiotics.
- Livestock must eat organically grown feed with no animal byproducts.
- Land must be free of chemical applications for at least three years.
- Growers must have detailed farm-systems plans.
- Products sold as organic must be certified by a third-party, independent certifier.
